Memory Stick PRO-HG is designed for high-speed data transfer based on Memory Stick PRO format technology to support the growth of products that record large amounts of data, such as high megapixel digital cameras and high-definition camcorders. This media was co-developed by Sony and SanDisk.
While only serial interfaces and 4-bit parallel interfaces are supported in Memory Stick PRO format, an 8-bit parallel interface has been added to the Memory Stick PRO-HG format. By increasing the maximum interface clock frequency from 40MHz to 60MHz, theoretical transfer rate of 480Mbps (60MB/s) is achieved, which is three times faster than the Memory Stick PRO format.
The minimum write speed of 120Mbps (15MB/s)* at 8bit parallel transfer and 40Mbps (5MB/s)* at 4-bit parallel transfer is guaranteed.

Since the Memory Stick PRO-HG format is an extension of the Memory Stick PRO format, Memory Stick PRO-HG media can be used with both Memory Stick PRO-HG and Memory Stick PRO compatible devices*.
Combination of Memory Stick PRO-HG and Memory Stick Duo ExpressCard™ Adaptor can achieve high-speed data transfer of 240Mbps (30MB/s). This allows one hour (3.6 GB) of data recorded by a Memory Stick Handycam to be transferred to a PC in approximately two minutes.

Transfer speed was achieved when recording 922MB file right after the media was fully formatted. Actual data transfer speed varies upon the measurement conditions.
